Stellaris: Console Edition’s second expansion pass will be available in May

The second expansion pass for Stellaris: Console Edition will be available on May 12th, Paradox Interactive has confirmed. The expansion pass will give players access to three DLC packs with the first of those being the Synthetic Dawn story pack on May 12th. In the Synthetic Dawn campaign players have the opportunity to play as the Machine Empire, a galactic empire which is made up entirely of robots. They seem a bit Borg like in that the Machine Empire grows through expanding the robotic consciousness, and it is creating an AI network to lead the empire. The other two packs are the Apocalypse expansion and the Humanoids Species expansion.

In the Apocalypse expansion players get access to new offensive and defensive weapons, including those that can obliterate entire planets. Players will also be able to choose to fight or ally with space pirates. The Humanoids Species pack grants players access to portraits and ships that have a more human like feel to them, so you can play as humanity reaching out into the stars and either joining or crushing the other alien species. The total cost of the Stellaris: Console edition second expansion pass will be $24.99 / £19.99 / €24.99.

In our review for Stellaris: Console Edition, Stefan wrote:

Stellaris: Console Edition is a solid port of what is easily Paradox Interactive’s most accessible grand strategy game. While Stellaris has evolved and grown over the past three years on PC, the base game is still a good solid grand strategy title with some intriguing ideas for storytelling and managing an endgame, though without some of the depth of their other titles. More importantly, wrapped a controller and TV friendly interface around the game that puts control over even the grandest of empires well within your grasp.
