World of Tanks Road to Berlin VE event will be running for the next two weeks

On Friday 8th May it will be Victory in Europe Day, or VE Day for short, which commemorates the day that Germany officially surrendered to the Allies marking the end of World War II in Europe. While a number of real life events have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic that does not mean that it will pass by completely unnoticed, especially in the realm of games. One of the games that is marking the event is World of Tanks and it is doing so through an event called Road to Berlin which starts today and will run until May 18th. This event is purely PvE with players being able to choose to be part of the British, American, or Soviet units of which there are five in total. Those are The Winged Spearhead, The Beast Slayers, The Ironsides, The 1st Tank Battalion, and The 48th Breakthrough Regiment.

Max Chuvalov, Publishing Director, World of Tanks said this about the event:

“The end of the Second World War in Europe is a key part of global history. By creating this mode, we intended to remind people all around the world of this anniversary.”

In the mode, players will choose from mid-tier vehicles that will be combined with combat boosts. Those boosts include Airstrike, Artillery Strikea and Special Shells among others. Once a player has chosen which loadout they want they will be put into a group with four other players to face off against enemies and complete battle missions of which there are five. These missions include capturing and defending points, taking down enemy tanks, and taking out enemy commanders. Four maps have been created for this mode including a Berlin map, but the Berlin map will not go live until the evening of the 8th of May to mark VE day.  Players will have to be careful as they start with three respawns but more will be granted as missions are completed.
