id Software has given some details of what players can expect in DOOM Eternal’s first major update which will soon be released for the game. Leading the charge in-game update 1 will be Empowered Demons which will provide a challenge to all Slayers. Empowered Demons are demons who manage to kill a Slayer and are given buffs to make them stronger. That killer demon is then placed in another Slayer’s game at random and if it is killed that Slayer will be given additional rewards like health, ammo, and bonus XP.
The single-player mode will be getting improvements too following feedback from players. Those changes will include changing the toxic damage when swimming, dashing vertically in the water, and having more expanded tutorials regarding the demons. The multiplayer Battlemode will also have changes applied to it. Those changes include adding the Denuvo Anticheat system to deter cheating, a Death Report screen, indicators that show if the network connection is poor, and an Echelon leveling system for players that reach the maximum level. You will also be able to add friends via Bethesda.net so getting them into the same game is a much faster and better experience. id Software is going to keep making changes to Battlemode as well as add new demons and maps for free further down the line.
Earlier today, the official DOOM Eternal Twitter account shared two new screens from the upcoming single-player DLC. While details are scarce one of the images appeared to show Urdan which may indicate players will be returning there. There will be two single-player DLC add ons but id Software is yet to confirm what they will be based on, outside of the ripping and tearing of demons.
