CI Games has announced a sequel to Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts with Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 set to be released this autumn. It is a quick sequel considering the original game released back in November 2019. There is not a lot of information about the sequel except that it will be set in the modern day, and that it will build upon the open sandboxes of the Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts. CI Games is planning to detail more details over the coming months.
Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts must have had some success to warrant a new release so quickly. That was set in Siberia with five regions. Within each area you had to take on the titular contracts, which tasked you with executing key targets in an area. There were 25 contracts in the core campaign, but the sandbox style regions are full of side missions and ambient tasks to take on. The Dynamic Reticule System had your back, regardless of your skill level in the game, letting you take ballistics and atmospheric conditions into account. You also had plenty of other gadgets, including a scout done, integrated binoculars, augmented reality and various bullet types.
The game before that was Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, which was a bit of a disappointment. In our review, I wrote:
The relatively unique Georgian setting and the brewing civil war are all but set aside for a by the numbers story of revenge and betrayal, while Jon isn’t a very likeable protagonist. The various bugs and crashes also need to be addressed in future patches, as they can ruin the experience. Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 has the sniping down to a tee, which should be expected with the number of years CI has been working on the series, but the surrounding package could be better.
