Subnautica: Below Zero will be available in May for PC and consoles

Unknown Worlds Entertainment has confirmed that Subnautica: Below Zero will be released on May 14th, and it will be available PC, Mac, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch. The sequel was first revealed back in 2018 and did have an early access stage as well. Below Zero is set a year after Subnautica and this time players have to go below the ice on Planet 4546B, crafting, scavenging and surviving.

Ted Gill, President of Unknown Worlds, said

“Subnautica: Below Zero has grown and evolved based on community feedback in Early Access and we’re excited to finally launch the full-blown sequel to Subnautica. After two years of implementing player feedback and adding new features and content, we’re excited to welcome players back to the depths of Planet 4546B to find an all new experience on PC and console.”

Emma had some time with Subnautica: Below Zero and wrote:

In the original game, we encountered plenty of fantastical thunderstorms, but nothing quite as unforgiving as the arctic. By having greater challenges on land, the game takes on a refreshed feel — we don’t feel like we’re merely playing a rehashed game, we feel like this is a whole new chapter of Subnautica. This is exactly what the devs wanted, and that I feel they’ve achieved thus far. During the events of the first game, we rarely had to spend much time on land, however, this time around there’s many reasons to keep our feet on solid ground. Though, as always, the main action is down in the darkness.
