This latest Games Workshop adaptation is coming sooner than you might think , Necromunda: Hired Gun having been tagged with a June 1st, 2021 launch date. This is the latest project from studio StreumOn who brought us 2018 Warhammer 40K shooter, Space Hulk: Deathwing Edition.

Here’s the game’s official synopsis:

- Upgrade and fight alongside your loyal cyber-mastiff
- Endless weapon and augment customisation
- Upgrade, advance, and level up as you collect bounties
Last year Focus Home Interactive published Necromunda: Underhive Wars, a third person tactics games directly inspired by its tabletop namesake.
Necromunda should be instantly familiar to those who wargaming hobby enthusiasts. Created by Games Workshop in 1995, it’s a skirmishing spin-off from their ever-popular Warhammer 40,000 franchise. However there are some keys differences. Instead of huge battlefields being torn apart by entire armies and their machines of war, Necromunda is set within a city contested by warring gangs in search of plunder and dominance. There’s more of a Mad Max/Cyberpunk vibe and it was only recently that Games Workshop revived the Necromunda tabletop game.
Hired Gun certainly looks promising from the glimpses of gameplay we’ve seen. Hopefully the shooting gameplay is more dynamic compared to Streum’s Space Hulk – if it is, we can easily see ourselves scouring the Necromunda’s hive city for bounties.
