The plans for free PS5 upgrades for Terminator: Resistance Enhanced have seemingly hit a bit of a snag, with publisher Reef Entertainment and developer Teyon explaining that the Enhanced edition upgrades from PS4 may not be available at its launch on 30th April 2021.
Don’t worry, though. The free upgrades are still happening, they might just be delayed.
The statement reads:
As you are likely aware, those who already own a PS4 copy of the game will be receiving a free upgrade for TERMINATOR: RESISTANCE ENHANCED on PS5, and we are very grateful to SONY’s PlayStation teams for assisting us in this upgrade project.
However, as ENHANCED was developed after the release of the PS4 version, we have recently been informed that there is some additional work that needs to be done on SONY’s side to ensure that the upgrades from PS4 to PS5 happen smoothly.
As of the moment, we have not been given a final date on when SONY will be able to complete this. As a result, there is a strong possibility that the PS4 to PS5 upgrade will not be available for the launch of TERMINATOR: RESISTANCE ENHANCED on April 30th and will follow a short time later.
Please be assured that we are doing all we can to get this upgrade ready and available for you as soon as possible, and we will update you via our social media channels as progress develops.
It’s not entirely clear why this has happened, when there are quite a few free upgrades that have happened according to plan, but there is “some additional work” that needs to be done on Sony’s side to ensure the upgrades go smoothly, and this is seemingly down to the fact that Enhanced was created after the original PS4 release. Strange when games like Maneater, Marvel’s Avengers, Borderlands 3 have handled the jump without a hitch.
Perhaps someone didn’t fill out the right form? Maybe it wasn’t done in triplicate?
Terminator Resistance: Enhanced is a sweeping overhaul of the… less than amazing original – see our Terminator Resistance review here. The Enhanced release promises greatly improved graphics, as well as balance patches and updates previously released on the PC, including an Infiltrator Mode that lets you play as a T-800 series Infiltrator Terminator.
The game will run at 4K 60fps on PS5, with faster loading times and features to take advantage of the DualSense controller.
