Report reveals the UK’s “favourite” game series, city by city

A lovely person by the name of Natasha has sent over some research which apparently reveals the UK’s favourite games, city by city. The research was conducted by Patrol Base, a company that sells rather vicious looking airsoft guns for paintballing so I’m not sure what the link is but I guess I should give them a plug anyway, you can find their website here.

It seems they have worked out each city’s favourite game by looking at the number of searches performed for the title over five years rather than how much it is played, but the results show that Bioshock is the UK’s top game. Four cities, Belfast, Bristol, Glasgow and Sheffield, ranked the Bioshock franchise at the top. Unsurprisingly, Liverpool and Manchester like their FIFA while Cardiff, Leeds and York all love a bit of Kratos with God of War being the most popular.

Southamptonites will be very happy in a few days as they love Mass Effect but the juggernaut that is Fortnite only claims one city, Leicester. You can check out the top five games of each city below. Do you agree with the results?

  1. I’m sure it’s unlikely to make a huge amount of difference considering the amount of people using VPNs is probably pretty low, but wouldn’t results based on search patterns be skewed because of their use? Eg, I live in NI but use a VPN that connects me to a server in England.

Nontheless, it’s Interesting data to see.

  2. I don’t think using search patterns is a very accurate way for deciding which are the favourite games. I only do a search for a game that I’m undecided about getting and want more info on. The game franchises I like and play the most im going to always buy unless they get a really crap review on a website like TSA.
