Pokémon GO Fest returns this July

Niantic and The Pokémon Company have confirmed that Pokémon GO Fest will be returning this July 17th and 18th. The developers have not yet confirmed what Pokémon Go players can expect from this year, but as this year marks the 25th anniversary of Pokémon and the fifth anniversary of Pokémon Go it should be a special one. In its announcement post Niantic had the following to say.

Last year’s event featured the debut of a brand-new worldwide format that saw Trainers from around the globe working together to complete challenges, unlock rewards, and defeat Team GO Rocket. From the launch of the Global Challenge Arena to the thrilling research that led us to Victini, Pokémon GO Fest 2020 was truly an event to remember!

What does this year’s event have in store? Well, you’ll just have to wait and see! 2021 marks both the twenty-fifth anniversary of Pokémon and the fifth anniversary of Pokémon GO, so trust us when we say you won’t want to miss Pokémon GO Fest 2021! We can’t wait to celebrate another summer together. Stay tuned for more details!

2020’s Pokémon GO Fest was largely virtual due to the many lockdown restrictions put in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants had to pay $14.99 for the tickets with the proceeds all being donated to various charities and campaigns. With COVID-19 still an issue this year Niantic may opt to do something similar this year. However, many countries are aiming to reduce lockdowns or stop them entirely. For example, England currently has a date of June 21st to return to as much normalcy as possible which could allow for Pokémon GO Fest to run as intended in England, and the rest of the UK.
