No Man’s Sky patch 3.40 – Beachhead Expedition is out, details here

The second expedition for No Man’s Sky has launched, the update for Beachhead is out now for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Expeditions are a new game mode, featuring events that start at a fixed point of the universe to bring together the game’s community on a shared journey. Each expedition is broken down into phases, which each features a set of in-game milestones for you to try and complete, giving you the opportunity to earn rewards, meet up with other players and experiment within the game.

It’s rooted in a new form of seasonal content for the game, with new expeditions created with different themes and exploring different parts of the game’s galaxy. The first expedition comes with specific rewards, including new base parts, new customisation options and an exclusive ship design and jetpack style. You’ll be able to take these rewards with you to other platforms via cross-save.

Here are the patch notes:

  1. It’s only 2 weeks to do it all this time. Well, 12 days now.

It may be best to head straight to the rendezvous points as soon as you can, and then head of into the galaxy. One of the steps involves discovering 10 systems, and everything along the expedition route has already been discovered. So get to that last point and then head off into unknown territory.

And step 3 in phase 5 involves buying something with quicksilver. Except you can’t buy it. Yet. There appears to be a community goal attached to it. Nobody knows what the step after that is yet.

Also, anything you earned in the last expedition, or from the Twitch drops, you can go and claim them in the anomaly for your new expedition save. Might want to grab a better ship early on.

I’m quite liking these expeditions. And all being added 5 years after the game launched.
