A Dying Light 2 stream is happening on Thursday

Techland will be hosting a Dying Light 2 reveal stream on Thursday night, according to teasers sent to press over the last few days. You’ll be able to tune in at 8PM UK time (9PM CEST, 3PM EDT, 12PM PDT) at Techland’s Twitch for an update on the long in development open world zombie game sequel.

We received the teaser message ourselves, which you can see here (now that we’ve reached the embargo time):

The message reads:

Hello, survivor!

Remember Harran?

Of course you do. But all that-that was just the beginning… Now The City is our refuge, and it needs your help.

You will, but you’ll have to hunt. I had to hide the info-this place isn’t safe. Track down the clues and remember, it’s all for your eyes only. This message cannot fall into the wrong hands.

You’re our last chance, survivor!

I guess we can trust you all? So how did we get from that to “there’s a teaser stream on Thursday”? Well, we also received a dark light, letting us reveal the hidden message.

27th May just so happens to be the date that a leaked Dying Light: Platinum Edition is expected to be announced and released…

Dying Light 2 was announced during E3 2018 (which seems like a lifetime ago) and was originally slated for release in early 2020 before Techland announced it would be delayed in order to give the team more time to spruce up their zombie-infested sandbox sequel.

Despite being one of the most exciting upcoming video game releases, Dying Light 2 has been mired in controversy. Delays of big AAA games usually come tagged with stories of stifled development, those surrounding Techland citing key staff departures, allegations of hostile working conditions, and the exit of Chris Avellone following sexual abuse allegations in 2020. There’s been reports and speculation that the game has entered “development hell”, though Techland’s bosses are obviously keen to dispel such rumours. Presenting a good game showcase on Thursday would go a long way to doing just that.
