Hello Games has given their enduring galactic exploration game No Man’s Sky yet another massive update. The Prisms Update adds a suite of new visual improvements, including DLSS support for Nvidia GPUs, and better reflections, textures, biome details, lighting, creature fur and more across all platforms.
As ever, there’s a pretty big change list for the game, which is outlined here:
- Screen space reflections
- Parallax Occlusion Mapping
- New volumetric lighting effects (also now available in VR)
- Reworked crepuscular “god” rays
- Improved torch effects
- Light refractions through glass, cockpits, forcefields, alien bubbles etc.
- Improved rain effects
- Particle effect improvements
- New Hyperdrive Warp effects
- Increased star visibility from planetary surface
- Increased planetary detail for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC ‘Ultra’ settings
- DLSS for Nvidia RTX GPUs
- Appearance modifier UI refresh
- Richer caves and subterranean biomes
- Meteorological Rewards – meteors and lightning strikes can spawn valuable objects
- Exotic Companions, including rideable flying creatures
- Creature fur
- Photo mode improvements
- Moveable Freighter Bases, which can be reset at any time
- Synthesis Laboratory in the Space Anomaly blueprint research area

I’ve nearly 500hrs in this game, I love it so much, and have done since day one. I cannot thank the studio enough for how far they’ve taken this game, and I can’t wait to see the new shiny!
