The new Total War: Warhammer 3 trailer is pretty Khorne-y

Sega and Creative Assembly have released a new trailer for Total War: Warhammer 3, focussing entirely on the demonic, bloodlust-filled forces of Khorne.

Alongside the trailer, they’ve also revealed some details of the Khorne army. They will be led in the campaign by the Legendary Lord Skarbrand The Exiled One. Once the greatest of Khorne’s daemons, his pride saw him banished from the Realm of Chaos, now roaming mortal and immortal realms with a relentless fury.

Skarbrand is the most powerful melee combatant ever seen in the Total War: Warhammer series. His twin axes, Slaughter & Carnage, get more powerful with every kill made, while his Bellow of Endless Fury ability unleashes a fire-breath attack. His passive ability inflicts rampage on weak-minded foes, making it so they cannot retreat when overwhelmed.

CA describe Khorne’s army as a ‘high-tempo army’ that’s all about closing distnace with the enemy and hitting them with devastating impact before getting stuck in with hand-to-hand combat. They often get better the longer they are stuck in combat, as battle bonuses unlock.

There’s no news on a release date for Total War: Warhammer 3 just yet, but then again they’re not done yet with Total War: Warhammer 2. The final DLC for the game is coming soon, The Silence & The Fury seeing the Beastmen led by Taurox The Brass Bull duelling with the Oxyotl The Unseen from the Lizardmen.

We went hands on with a preview of Total War: Warhammer 3 a little while ago, playing as Kislev as they stepped into the realm of Khorne in the new Survival battle mode. We said:

All in all, it’s a fun twist on the classic style of Total War battling. While it’s called ‘Survival’, in truth you’re alternately defending and attacking, going from a push forward to a capture point to setting up defences and choosing where to spend your precious Supplies.
