Ubisoft has confirmed that the next big Rainbow Six game will be Rainbow Six Extraction, which is the new name for Rainbow Six Quarantine. Today, Ubisoft has released a new teaser trailer as well as a short developer video that shines a light on the name change. However, the full reveal will be taking place during Ubisoft Forward on June 24th. You can watch both the teaser and the developer diary below.
In Rainbow Six Extraction the aim is different to Rainbow Six Siege. In Siege, Operators face off against each other to win matches by completing objectives. However, Rainbow Six Extraction is game focused on co-operative play where Operators work together to make sure everyone gets out alive. Squads will be facing off against an evolving alien parasite that has broken out of its quarantine posing a danger to the world. Players will work together to determine how far to push forward and when to fall back to extract themselves from the fight against the parasite.
Back in February, Rainbow Six Quarantine had a new placeholder name which was Rainbow Six Parasite, though that turned out to be a placeholder. At the time a Ubisoft spokesperson said:
“While we recently shared that we will be changing the name of Rainbow Six Quarantine, ‘Parasite’ is only a placeholder that our internal teams use. Recently, we ran an internal test for the game and some of its details became public. We can confirm this is a glimpse of the upcoming game, and we will share more details, including the official name, soon.”
Rainbow Six Quarantine was originally announced during Ubisoft’s E3 2019 showcase but since news has been scant about the title. That will all change on Saturday, and it could be we get a release date for Rainbow Six Extraction then.
