Monster Hunter Stories 2 new trailer gives us a whole lot of story – Palamute DLC coming in free Title Update

Another new trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin has been released, giving us a whole lot of story for the upcoming Monster Hunter RPG. Monster Hunter Stories 2 will release on July 9th for Switch and PC.

Additionally, Capcom announced the first post-release free title update for the game will add the new Palamute ‘monstie’ to the game on the 15th July, just a week after release.

Can’t wait to get into the action? A trial version of the game will release on 25th June, and you’ll be able to play and transfer your save over to the full game.

But back to the story, the trailer shows plenty of snippets from in-game cutscenes, detailing how your new player character is able to inherit the Kinship stone from Red, the hero of the first game. From here, he it entrusted with a Rathalos egg of his own, which hatches to reveal a flightless Rathalos, a legendary beast that’s said to herald the world’s ruin – beats of its wings can bring about waves of destruction.

It’s up to you to figure out what’s going on with all the mysterious pits appearing around the world, as well as the people seemingly trying to steal your Ratha.

The story begins with the mass disappearance of Rathalos around the world. As the descendant of the legendary Rider named Red, the player character has a fateful encounter with a white-haired wyverian girl, Ena, who has been entrusted with a Rathalos egg. A flightless Rathalos with small black wings bursts out of the egg, which is said to bring ruin to the world in time.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin was announced in September 2020 alongside Monster Hunter Rise, the Nintendo Switch exclusive entry in the main Monster Hunter series. Wings of Ruin follows on from the first Stories spin-off game with its RPG gameplay, which launched for Nintendo 3DS in 2017.

A Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin Deluxe Edition will include Razewing layered armor sets and a Nergigante-inspired hairstyle for players, the Kuan Coat outfit for your Wyverian companion Ena, two new outfits for Navirou, and two sticker sets. Those who pre-order the game on either platform will get the Kamura maiden outfit for Ena, while Switch players will get three sets of layered armour and daily bonuses for tapping the new Ena, Razewing Ratha and Tsukino amiibo figures.
