Resident Evil 8 has now sold 4.5m copies, Capcom have announced. The survival horror sequel launched earlier this year on May 7th for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as well as Google Stadia.
At launch, it was reported that Resident Evil 8 (also referred to as Resident Evil Village) had hit 3 million copies sold. The latest game in Capcom’s grisly series outperformed its predecessor, Resident Evil 7, which managed 3.5 million sales within its first nine weeks.
Since the franchise first hit PlayStation back in 1996, more than 100 million Resident Evil games have been sold worldwide.

For those wanting more Resident Evil 8, you’re in luck. During Capcom’s E3 2021 presentation, the Japanese publisher confirmed that DLC is on the way. This could take the form of new Mercenaries content and game modes, though we’re hoping for a meatier kind of expansion.
But what about Re:Verse? The competitive 6 versus 6 multiplayer component to Resident Evil 8 has been pushed back to later this year. Anyone who owns a copy of the game will get it for free.
There’s been a lot of Resident Evil reveals lately. Capcom unveiled the cast of their Netflix live action Resi series including Lance Reddick (The Wire, Destiny 2) starring as Albert Wesker. He will be joined by Ella Balinska (Charlie’s Angels), Tamara Smart (Artemis Fowl ), Siena Agudong (Alex & Me), Adeline Rudolph (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina). and Paolo Nunez (Bad Boys for Life).

The new story follows fourteen year old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker who move to New Raccoon City with their father. “The more time they spend there, the more they come to realise the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing a dark secret” add Netflix.
