Konami has announced that it has signed a deal with Neymar Jr to make him the new ambassador for the eFootball PES series including the latest eFootball PES 2021 update. It is likely then that Neymar will be the face of eFootball PES and grace its cover. It would not be the first time Neymar would have been on the cover as he was the cover star for PES 2016. As part of this deal Neymar will be an Iconic Moment Series player in the eFootball PES 2021 update. In a statement, Neymar Jr. said:
“I am honoured to have signed a contract with KONAMI. I would like to continue playing with passion and stir up much excitement in the world of soccer along with the PES and Winning Eleven series!”
Earlier this month, Konami released a new demo for New Football Game to give a bit of a look at the next entry to the eFootball PES series. Four teams were playable in the timed demo, and they were Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Barcelona. What is more is that the new PES game is going to be developed on Unreal Engine, with the Fox Engine being dropped. Konami’s football series has been on the back foot since losing the UEFA Champions League license to EA and their FIFA series a few years ago. Since then they have been constantly making exclusive deals with individual leagues and teams, most recently signing up Series A side Atalanta. In the last year they’ve also signed the likes of Napoli, AS Roma and Juventus, some in exclusive deals that see them dropped from EA’s FIFA games.
There is supposed to be an eFootball PES 2022 reveal on July 21st, which is coming in the wake of EA’s own gameplay reveal of FIFA 22.
