The Epic Game Store is giving away another pair of video games this week, including A Plague Tale: Innocence and Minit.
Both are available to download and keep for free, without paying a penny. Every week Epic adds at least one new free game to their ever-growing library. Next Thursday, on August 12th, Plague Tale and Minit will vanish from the giveaway and will be replaced by Rebel Galaxy.
A Plague Tale: Innocence
Plague Tale scored a remarkable 9/10 in our review back in 2019. “A Plague Tale: Innocence proves that feisty young women are the new heroes of single player narrative adventures, and Amicia can proudly stand alongside Aloy and Senua. Asobo Studios have knocked it out of the park with a compelling story, superb graphics, and excellent music. Loved it.” A sequel – A Plague Tale: Requiem – was recently announced and will launch in 2022.
Minit
A unique indie delight designed to be played in one-minute sessions. Here’s what Steve said in his Minit review.
Minit is an experimental game at heart, and in many ways it’s a successful one. The innovation of the time limit adds a whole new dimension to the stripped back Zelda-like gameplay and the death mechanic makes travelling around the world as much of a puzzle as an arcade adventure. While it is a short game, increasing the playtime further would stretch the central mechanic to breaking point. On the one hand it is a game that deserves a great deal of attention for its experimentation with traditional genres and mechanics, but it never quite breaks free of feeling like a prototype. In many ways, this is the curse of the truly original title – breaking new ground brings a complex mix of expectations and frustrations. Minit is certainly worth its play time, but many may feel short changed by its deconstruction of the arcade adventure.
