InnerSloth isn’t developing this themselves, but rather teaming up with VR developer Schell Games, the creators fo the I Expect You To Die puzzle room series.
The game promises to translate all of the suspicious behaviour and much of the gameplay from the original game into VR, with all of the core mechanics at play. The VR edition will support multiplayer (of course), but it will not be compatible with the original Among Us game.
Release dates and additional information about Among Us VR will be coming at a later date.
Before then, Among Us is coming to PlayStation and Xbox on December 14th, shifting a game that started off on PC and mobile to home console. It’s taken a while for this version to appear, especially when it released on Nintendo Switch this time last year.
We dove into the Nintendo Switch version last December, pondering what it could mean for the game’s future and the problems that Innersloth need to figure out before they can really bring the game to PlayStation or Xbox consoles. There’s a few, such as how chat works in the game. I wrote:
Given how much buzz there is surrounding Among Us, it’s no surprise that Innersloth have sought to bring it to console, and Nintendo Switch is by far and away the most logical first platform for them to tackle. That said, they’ve clearly got their work cut out for them to make it truly feel like a first class citizen on the platform, ironing out the kinks and figuring out how best to translate the game to PlayStation and Xbox.
