Even if you don’t play as one of your creations, you can set them loose on some of 9E’s campaigns. As in past Empires games there’s a certain delight in watching what your custom characters get up to, aligning with factions or forming their own, becoming trusted allies or ruthless opponents. Here’s what you can expect from the full demo:
The Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires demo features the all-new evolved castle sieges, including both invasion battles and defence. Storm the enemy castle, or fight to defend your fortress in this challenging tutorial. Virtual warlords can play through each siege scenario repeatedly to discover and develop the best strategies to overpower and outthink opponents.
In addition, fans will be able to experience the game’s in-depth edit mode, enabling gamers to create their own officers before taking them into battle. The newly created characters can then be transferred from the demo version to the full game as long as you are playing the same platform on both the demo and final product.
The western release date for DW9E is scheduled for February 15, 2022, almost exactly 4 years after the launch of Dynasty Warriors 9. It’s fair to say that Koei Tecmo took a gamble with the newest mainline entry in their fan favourite franchise. However, the game’s open world was barren and didn’t lend itself to some of the era’s epic battles.
Hopefully Omega Force has cracked the formula with Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires when it finally arrives on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC next year. Samurai Warriors 5 marked a welcome return to form so hopefully its DW counterpart can step things up.
