Ubisoft Singapore cleared in workplace misconduct investigation

The government investigation into Ubisoft Singapore’s handling of workplace misconduct has concluded, clearing the studio’s systems for handling reports and allegations and concluding that past reports were handled in an appropriate manner.

The Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP) opened its investigation in July 2021 following a report by Kotaku that spoke to 20 current and former employees. That reporting brought to light allegations of sexual harassment, pay disparity and bullying, but TAFEP has concluded that past allegations were handled appropriately and take disciplinary action where needed. They’re also happy with Ubisoft’s confidential internal reporting system, the use of independent parties to investigate reports, and gave Ubisoft’s Code of Fair Conduct a thumbs up.

In a statement following the conclusion of the investigation, Darryl Long, Managing Director, Ubisoft Singapore, said, “We’ve put best practices in place at Ubisoft Singapore to ensure a safe, respectful, inclusive and equitable workplace for every member of our team. We will continue striving to be an exemplary employer in Singapore and the region, one that attracts and retains the best talents and creates amazing games that enrich the lives of our players.”

TAFEP also agreed with a third-party consultancy firm that Ubisoft brought in to review the company’s salary structure, finding that salaries across the 500-strong studio were performance based and had reasonable justifications for any disparities.
