Shadow Warrior 3 finally has a release date. Developer Flying Wild Hog has confirmed that the shooty, stabby threequel will launch on March 1, 2022 for PS4, PS5 Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The wonderfully silly cinematic trailer gives us a taste of what’s to come – over the top action in a vibrant world populated with all kinds of bizarre creatures to kill.
Lo Wang will return for yet another tongue in cheek romp that builds on the past two games in the rebooted series. If you want to catch up on the story so far then, good news, Devolver Digital is giving away Shadow Warrior and Shadow Warrior 2. Pre-order Shadow Warrior 3 either on the PlayStation or Xbox store and you’ll get free instant access to both titles.
Prepare to face off against a twisted menagerie of demons, using an ever-growing arsenal of crazy weapons. Shadow Warrior 3 will also feature an expanded movement system that weaves together wall-runs, air dashes, and a grappling hook, fusing ninja-style parkour with visceral combat gameplay. The developer has promised that customisation will still play a key role though it has been streamlined to help focus on the action instead of worrying over weapon stats and loadout screens. Shadow Warrior looks poised to give DOOM yet another run for its money as the best demon-slaying shooter.
Here’s a little more on the game’s story:
You are an ex-Yakuza mercenary, whose lightning combat skills are matched only by your sharp one-liners. The story begins following the apocalyptic climax of Shadow Warrior 2. By nearly bringing the world to its untimely end, you accidentally opened a multi-dimensional prison cell holding a huge, world-eating dragon. Now, finding yourself in the middle of an apocalyptic hellscape, and, more importantly, with your mojo lost, are forced to team up with your arch nemesis, the ex-billionaire Orochi Zilla, and newly recruited sorceress supreme Motoko, to right your wrongs. However, the road to redemption is spiked not only with ultra-malevolent Yokai demons but also with equally damning distrust between your team of discount heroes.
Shadow Warrior 3 isn’t the only game Flying Wild Hog has in the works. Last year the Polish studio also revealed high action third person shooter, Evil West.
