Sifu update 1.06 is now available to download on PC (via the Epic Games Store), PS4 and PS5. This latest patch includes a small array of fixes and improvements, resolving issues around some of the game’s boss battles.

In the patch notes below, developer Sloclap state that the Sean and Kuroki boss fights have been optimised, making these encounter less stressful to chop your way through.

Since launch, Sifu has already sold half a million copies across all three platforms. Although built to be a challenging experience, Sifu’s difficulty has been a point of contention among gamers and critics. Sloclap is said to be working on both easier and harder difficulty options while also expanding the accessibility features on offer.

Jason wasn’t as keen as other reviewers – in our Sifu review, he scored the game a 4 out of 10:

“Sifu is a game that I wanted to love. I had high hopes for it being one of my game of the year contenders, but it left me feeling intensely deflated instead. It’s a game that confuses the precise mechanical difficulty of Sekiro with a forced difficulty brought on by simply giving bosses armour. I find myself irrationally angry with Sifu. Sifu is a game that had exceptional potential, but squandered it on the wrong lessons.”

Sifu is the second title from French game developer, Sloclap. Their debut game, Absolver, was similarly ambitious in its attempts to create a stylish hit with martial arts combat at its core.

A physical release is due later this year. Launching on May 3, 2022, Sifu Vengeance Edition will bundle a copy of the game with a steelbook, 3 exclusive lithographs, a 48-page artbook, and a digital soundtrack.
