There’s no mention of Horizon Forbidden West DLC anywhere in the review notes and Sony have not announced any packs, but it appears those nice people at the VSC Rating Board have let slip that DLC is on the way.

In a new video posted today on Twitter the VSC explain Horizon Forbidden West’s rating and at the 1m19s mark they clearly announce “The game offers players the opportunity to connect to an online store front where they can purchase subsequent DLC expansions.” That is not the case at present, Horizon Forbidden West has no DLC store.

Closer inspection of the back of the physical copy of the game also reveals in the “In game purchases” icon from the PEGI ratings system. This wouldn’t have been spotted in any reviews as everyone gets sent digital codes rather than a boxed game.

Horizon Forbidden West DLC

Horizon Forbidden West DLC seems like a no brainer, it’s a big open world game that could easily have DLC patched in, something Guerrilla did when The Frozen Wilds was added to Horizon Zero Dawn. However there is one note of caution, a quick check on the back of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart also reveals that game is marked to have an online store and it does not. It may be the case that Sony say there’s going to be an online store just in case they decide to make some DLC later on.

Latest data on Horizon Forbidden West shows it thrashed every other game in the digital download charts last week taking 48% of all sales, more than double that of Horizon Zero Dawn. Of those sales, 67% were for the PlayStation 5 version of the game.

There’s some merch for the game as well, free Horizon Forbidden West papercraft models released by PlayStation Asia.  Along with that, LEGO and PlayStation have announced their first new model based off Horizon Forbidden West and Zero Dawn, recreating the series’ iconic Tallneck robot. The LEGO Tallneck will be available from May 2022 and priced at £69.99 / €79.99 / $79.99.
