To tie in with the launch of Horizon Forbidden West a new graphic novel has been released. Well, I say new, Horizon Zero Dawn: Volume 2 : Liberation is actually issues #5-8 of the Horizon comic series that were originally published back in July 2021.

The story does feature Aloy but focusses more on Erend who in turn narrates the story of his sister, Ersa. As you might expect there are encounters with large robotic beasties with the comic filling in the the back story of the game.

This being a comic there’s a little artistic interpretation of the characters, you can see the cover below which shows a rather different version of Aloy and and an alarmingly coy Erend who clearly has been moisturising every night and possibly dabbling in a little eye shadow.

The artwork within the comic is closer to the game, Aloy looks like herself but Erend has had a bit of a glow up and is now square jawed, rather younger and significantly slimmer. I’m not sure why that’s happened, Erend is meant to a warm hearted thicc boy, not a super model.

Anyway, I clearly don’t know what I’m talking about as people who do know about comics say it’s fab. “Nothing short of breathtaking, 9 out 10” say Graphic Policy, “Peach as become the hottest cover art variant creator in the business,” said Bleeding Cool about the cover above.

You can grab a copy of Horizon Zero Dawn: Volume 2 : Liberation from Forbidden Planet in the UK, where it will cost you £10.34.

In related news those nice people at the VSC Rating Board have let slip that DLC is on the way for Horizon Forbidden West. In a video posted on Twitter the VSC explain Horizon Forbidden West‘s rating and at the 1m19s mark they clearly announce “The game offers players the opportunity to connect to an online store front where they can purchase subsequent DLC expansions.” That is not the case at present, Horizon Forbidden West has no DLC store.
