The Quarry first look trailer and release date revealed

the quarry horror game

Supermassive Games and 2K have officially revealed The Quarry, a new horror game launching this summer.

Unsurprisingly, this latest title from the Until Dawn and Dark Pictures developer looks to have a lot in common with their previous games. The Quarry is story-driven adventure with a sinister twist as you juggle the fates of its lead characters.

The setup will be familiar to any slasher horror fans out there as nine camp counsellors plan to throw a party, spending one final night at Hackett’s Quarry. Of course, there are bound to be uninvited guests…

The Quarry has carved out a release date for June 10, 2022, and will be coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A deluxe edition of the game will be up for preorder, unlocking visual filters, character outfits, and a Death Rewind feature.

Watching the announcement trailer, horror fans will have no doubt spotted some familiar faces. Once again, Supermassive has assembled an established cast with highlights including Scream’s David Arquette and Lin Shaye of Insidious fame.

The Quarry Key Features

Adjustable difficulty for all gameplay elements let players of any skill level enjoy the horror. And if you prefer to watch rather than play, Movie Mode lets you enjoy The Quarry as a binge-worthy cinematic thriller. Select how you want the story to unfold, kick back, and munch on some popcorn in between all the screams!

Last year, we saw the third entry in Supermassive’s The Dark Pictures Anthology with House of Ashes. In our review we scored the latest chapter an 8/10, saying:

House of Ashes adds little to the Dark Pictures formula, and doesn’t seem to progress anthology’s overarching plot. That said, it’s still a great adventure with some jaw dropping visuals and action-packed set pieces. A solid addition to the franchise.

Coming up next is The Devil In Me, which looks to be a gruesome final for the series’ first leg. With actress Jessie Buckley at the helm, players attempt to thwart a sadistic serial killer who turns his victims into macabre puppets. Looking even further ahead, a potential leak reveals the next five Dark Pictures games.

For now, however, we’ve got The Quarry to look forward to.
