Today, Ubisoft will launch a The Division 2 update, introducing the looter shooter’s latest season of content.
Season 9 – Hidden Alliances – will go live shortly with new content such as activities, game features, and cosmetic gear. Developer, Massive Entertainment, has packed plenty into Title Update 15, with a deeper emphasis on storytelling and giving veteran players more to do.
Expect The Division 2 servers to go offline for most of the morning from 09:30 CEST / 03:30 AM EDT / 12:30 AM PDT. Once maintenance has finished, players will have access to the new update and Season 9.
The Division 2 Update – Season 9 Highlights
Here’s a snapshot of what Agents can expect during this latest season:
- New Manhunt targets are being introduced. The True Sons are on the march once again, led by their new charismatic frontman, Captain Lewis.
- New Countdown mode. Designed for 8 players, your bumper size squad will need to complete a string of objectives against the clock as you attempt to regain control of a power plant.
- The Expertise system introduces a new way to upgrade items. You’ll earn points by simply using different gear – by mastering them you can spend resources to improve their base stats.
- A Season 9 battle pass loaded with free and premium rewards across 100 tiers.
- 2 Apparel Events.
- Missions Takeover. The Division 2 will repurpose legacy content, allowing Manhunt targets to helm missions from the D.C. campaign.
- Changes to the Specialization system to make it feel more meaningful.
Originally, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment had planned to end support for The Division 2 following Title Update 12. However, strong support from the player community has motivated the devs to continue making fresh content for the Tom Clancy sequel.
Although stronger and more cohesive than the original, The Division 2 didn’t have the same impact. In 2020, it was followed by a meaty expansion dubbed Warlords of New York. But what comes next for the RPG series? Ubisoft previously announced The Division: Heartland – a free to play spinoff that’s presumably still in the works.
