Go behind the scenes of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s development

During the Warhammer Skulls stream, Focus and Saber Interactive shared a brief video going behind the scenes of the development of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC, but we don’t really have a clue when that might be. It could be quite a way away.

Space Marine 2 sees Captain Titus (voiced by a Clive Standen who’s very excited that he’s being made very tall via the magic of motion capture) heading into battle with the fearsome invasion forces of the Tyranid. As one of the Imperium’s elite Space Marines, you’ll be able to unleash plenty of deadly abilities and use an arsenal of over-the-top weaponry against the chitinous hordes.

The behind the scenes and the original announcement trailer from The Game Awards in December are both really light on actual content, but do show off a few brief snippets of gameplay. Given just how teaser-y today’s behind the scenes video was, might we hold out a little hope for something a bit more in-depth at next week’s Summer Game Fest stream?

The 2011 Space Marine was a decent crack at creating a 40K third person shooter with a decent story battling against Orkish hordes. In our review of Space Marine, Dan said:

“Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine has been a pleasant surprise. It provides a good story wrapped in some very enjoyable gameplay mechanics. Whilst it does have a few niggles, there’s no denying that it’s a hoot to play through as you hack, slash and blast your way to the Spire.”
