Ravenlok brings twisted Alice in Wonderland vibes to Xbox and PC

We’re loving a bit of not-E3 today, and the Microsoft and Bethesda showcase is almost making us forget that it’s not the real thing, with the announcements coming thick and fast. Next up is the reveal trailer for Ravenlok, giving the first glimpse of a brand new game from Cococucumber, the makers of Echo Generation.

This first look gives us a great first impression of the twisted fantasy landscape that they’re going for, and it’s bright, colourful and comes complete with a time-sensitive rabbit.

Things start off looking pretty idyllic, with a family moving into an atypical farm in middle America. While your parents are off doing all the heavy lifting though it seems that you, the young lady of the piece, are busy off exploring the barn, finding a host of forgotten objects. Amongst them is a mirror, and in true fantasy fashion, you’ll find yourself sucked through it into a deranged land of crazy creatures and terrifying boss characters.

It looks lovely, and there’s the chunky styling of Echo Generation still hanging around the edges of the art design. They’ve gone for a slightly more realistic look though, and it looks as though Ravenlok will be an exciting adventure through a weird and wonderful landscape.

It’ll be interesting to see if it retains the trun based combat of their last game, but after the success of Echo Generation it’s interesting to see Cococucumber taking on a well-known mythology and approaching it in a different way.

Ravenlok is set to launch in 2023 – don’t worry, it’s getting closer every day – and is coming to the Xbox family of consoles, as well as PC and the Cloud. If you’ve ever wanted to hop down the rabbit hole in a brand new way it looks as though this could well be the game you’ve been waiting for.
