A PlayStation Store leak has revealed the next upcoming JRPG from Final Fantasy publisher, Square Enix.

Following the premature reveal of The Last of Us Part 1 last week there has been another PlayStation Store leak, revealing the unannounced Tactics Ogre: Reborn. While we don’t have any screenshots or gameplay footage, a placeholder page shows off some promotional artwork and a logo, confirming the game’s existence.

It’s not a series every gamer will be familiar with though JRPG fans will be frothing at the mouth now that the news is official: Tactics Ogre is making a comeback and will at least be launching on PlayStation platforms.

Square Enix recently trademarked Tactics Ogre: Reborn, the name “Reborn” suggesting that Square may be remastering one or more Tactics Ogre games, though there’s a slim chance a sequel could be in the works. Likened to Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem, there have only been a handful of Tactics Ogre games, the last being a remake of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, which launched in 2010 exclusively for the Sony PSP.

Even if you’re not too keen on playing Tactics Ogre, this news may still be of interest. It wasn’t long ago that a list of unannounced games for NVIDIA GeForce NOW was leaked online and, so far, all of the Square Enix games on that list have materialised into reality. The last one on that list? A Final Fantasy IX remake!

The most recent Square classic to undergo the remaster treatment was Chrono Cross, the 1999 successor to beloved RPG, Chrono Trigger. Having just launched, in our review of Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, Miguel scored the game a 6/10.

If you prefer your JRPGs to be more strategic (and stuffed with hours of dialogue) then Triangle Strategy may be more appropriate. Make sure you read Dom’s Triangle Tactics review.

We’ll have more news on Tactics Ogre: Reborn when it’s officially announced.
