A video game based on the popular Kingdom Netflix series has officially been announced, showing some first-look gameplay footage.

Kingdom: The Blood is an upcoming action RPG set in a 16th century Korea with a grisly twist: zombies. For those who haven’t already watched the Kingdom Netflix series, it’s well worth a watch with two full seasons available to stream.

Developed by South Korean studio, Action Square, the video game adaptation will release on PC and mobile, with no confirmed release date as of yet. According to the devs, it will include a variety of game modes, including a story-driven campaign as well as co-op and online PvP.

Kingdom: The Blood Overview

Staying true to the beloved Netflix series, Kingdom: The Blood recreates characters, zombies and vicious action from the show in high-quality 3D graphics. Korean culture is treated with the utmost care in both gameplay and aesthetic. Motion capture was recorded using a professional Korean sword dancer to perfectly replicate deadly Korean-style combat. Players will show off their own personality with character creation and customization. The game takes you through beautiful sceneries of Korean palaces as well as zombie-infested city of Hanyang. Diverse costume options, including Hanbok (Korean traditional clothing), feature deep colors and textures representative of 16th century Korea.

Kingdom: The Blood will include a story mode that follows the Netflix drama. Game modes include Conquest Mode, a sequence of diverse five-minute battles, in addition to epic multi-boss battles and intense player-versus-player combat. The K-zombie RPG will launch on mobile and PC for global audiences.

What’s been shown of the game so far looks promising, with zombies and human enemies putting up a fight instead of merely being fodder for players to slice through. Gamers are already comparing it to a zombified Ghost of Tsushima. It will be interesting to see how deep The Blood probes into the series’ lore and whether this could expand the Kingdom universe further.

  1. Well this isn’t going to be confusing in the slightest when there’s already a Kingdom video game series…
