The ever reliable Dealabs have leaked the August 2022 PlayStation Plus Essential free games. These leaks have been spot on for many months so we have no reason to believe the latest leak is incorrect – Update: The leak has been confirmed!
According Dealabs the games are as follows:
- Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 (PS5 / PS4)
- Yakuza: Like a Dragon (PS5 / PS4)
- Little Nightmares (PS4)
The games should be available from August 6th and should be officially revealed later today.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2
“Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+ 2 is a labour of love and an ode to the series’ glory days#,” we said in our 10/10 review. “Every inch of the game has been perfectly restored and updated for modern consoles and it’s an absolute delight to play from start to finish. This is a must-buy for skateboarders, gamers and everyone else in between.”
Yakuza: Like a Dragon
“Yakuza Like a Dragon is an enjoyable new twist on the series, although it’s not hard to imagine that many long-time fans of the series will be put off by its slow pace,” we said in our review. “In a day and age where video game companies rarely take risks, Like a Dragon is a refreshing change of pace for a series that risked starting to feel stale.”
Little Nightmares
“Little Nightmares is something of a minor classic,” was my comment when I reviewed the game and gave it 8/10. “Gorgeously gross and surprisingly inventive, it creates a genuine feeling of terror and tension. It’s a bit odd to say a game that involves skipping over corpses is enjoyable, but it is, just don’t blame Tarsier if you have nightmares.”

At this point, where use the word “leak” when “announced” is inevitably true?
Probably can’t be bothered with skateboarding shenanigans, however allegedly good they are. And already bought Little Nightmares. So Yakuza it is then. Which suits me fine. Never got around to that one. Or the 3/4/5 remasters. Or 6. Quite conveniently, 0 to 6 are all coming to PS+ Extra/Premium too. Hopefully nobody’s foolish enough to play all 8 in order, one after the other.

Well, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 is an annoying sports game, and probably not as good as Olliolli2. Yakuza I never played a single game of, but Little Nightmares was on my wishlist for a while, that’s the most interesting one of the lot for me.

Both THPS and Yakuza are really well reviewed and received so worth trying them if you haven’t. May find something new you like!

Were you only buying games that you didn’t want to play up until this point? ;)
