The first 16 minutes (kind of) from Gotham Knights have been showcased in a new gameplay video. The video kicks off the IGN First month of August, which will dive into different parts of the latest superhero caper from WB Montreal. Gotham Knights will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on 25th October 2022.

So why the ‘kind of’? Well, this is the first 16 minutes of gameplay…. after the prologue, which WB Montreal are going to keep under wraps for as long as they can. You can expect that to set up the main narrative push of Gotham Knights, with Batman killed and a postmortem message being beamed to the world, with four of his youthful proteges – Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl and Red Hood – stepping into the void to try and unravel the Court of Owls plot that led to Batman’s death.

So after that, this opening prologue, this will be the first part where you get to take control of a character. You get to choose from the four heroes – IGN picked Batgirl – and then dive into a section that will serve as a tutorial and combat, some investigative work, as well as show some first hints of a wider mystery.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen gameplay from the co-op hero-’em-up, with WB Montreal showcasing individual characters – here’s Robin gameplay – and tandem teamups – here’s Nightwing with Red Hood. The one thing they haven’t shown? Gameplay on the last generation…. because that isn’t happening anymore!

It was recently revealed that Gotham Knights is skipping last generation consoles. While it was originally announced with PS4 and Xbox One consoles in mind back in 2020, the game has faced a number of significant delays. It was originally expected for release in 2021, but has now been pushed back to the tail end of 2022, making the decision to cut the last generation support, which will help ease the load on the team through the final stretch. The game will now only be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on 25th October 2022.
