Street Fighter 6 Kimberly and Juri gameplay revealed

Street Fighter 6 Kimberly Header

With this past weekend’s Evolution Championship Series 2022 the focal point for millions of fighting game fans, Capcom unveiled two more characters that will appear in the Street Fighter 6 roster, with one brand new creation and a returning fighter from previous games. Meet Kimberly and say hello once again to Juri.

Kimberly will be the most exciting of the two – I mean, who doesn’t like brand new characters? She’s a ninja fighter, a student to Bushinryu who’s incorporated some special moves from Guy and Zeku, but shows her “ordinary upbringing” and love for 80s pop culture throughout. She’s got the Sprint to dash forward, while Bue Twister is an air throw that slams opponents down to the ground. She then uses spray cans as Shuriken Bombs, and can use the colourful explosions to conceal herself and then appear right in front of her opponent.

Her Super Arts are as follows:

  • Bushin Beats (1 Stock) – Kimberly rushes forward and knocks down an opponent, then follows up with a flurry of attacks. If a Shuriken Bomb is stocked up, Kimberly uses it to add additional damage.
  • Bushin Scramble (2 Stocks) – Kimberly sends the opponent into the air and parkours along the edge of the stage pelting them with mid-air attacks, then ensnares them with a dive bomb-like attack.
  • Bushin Ninjastar Cypher (3 Stocks) – Get ready to drop the beat! Kimberly detonates an arsenal of spray cans around the opponent culminating in a chromatic graffiti tag on the ground.

Then there’s Juri, who debuted in Street Fighter IV. She’s a thrillseeker who wanted revenge on M. Bison, but now that he’s been defeated, she’s looking for the next thing to come along. Her style of fighting returns with her signature Fuhajin, which is an upward kick that stores Fuha stocks, leading into special moves Saihasho, Ankensatsu and Go Ohsatsu, which are powered up when chained together with Fuha stocks available.

Her Super Arts have been revitalised for Street Fighter 6.

  • Sakkai Fuhazan (1 Stock) – Juri fires multiple ki blasts with a kick and follows it up with another giant ki blast to knock an opponent away.
  • Feng Shui Engine (2 Stocks) – First appearing as an Ultra Combo in Super Street Fighter IV then a V-Trigger in Street Fighter V, Feng Shui Engine returns as a Super Art. Juri unleashes the power of the Feng Shui Engine embedded in her eye, allowing her to cancel normal moves into other normal moves or even unique moves.
  • Kaisen Dankai Raku (3 Stocks) – Straight from Super Street Fighter IV, Juri unleashes the full power of the Feng Shui Engine to perform a brutal sequence of attacks fitting for the vengeful sadist.

You’ll also spot the new stage Tian Hong Yuan in the trailer, a nighttime downtown area that’s illuminated by hanging lanterns.

This wasn’t the only Street Fighter 6 reveal of the weekend, with Tasty Steve and James Chen giving us a look at the real time commentary features coming to the title – we also got to see some more of Luke and Guile fighting it out on an aircraft carrier.

Street Fighter 6 is set to be released in 2023 for PS5, PS4, PC, and Xbox Series X|S. The latest game in Capcom’s long running fighting series has also freshened things up by adding a hub to run around in, though the full details on what players can expect in the hub are unknown. Though it could be an area when you customise your fighters and find other elements to enhance the game experience.

Street Fighter 6 makes Street Fighter fun again

In our preview for the game, Miguel wrote, “Street Fighter 6 delivers an addictive blend of the best parts of prior entries. […] It’s fresh, it’s different, and bewilderingly so. A franchise afraid to change it’s socks for the last decade has gone and swapped out the whole dang wardrobe, but even wilder than the big change itself is how absolutely perfect it is.”
