Wolverine gameplay revealed in Marvel’s Midnight Suns

Wolverine gameplay from the upcoming Marvel’s Midnight Suns has been revealed, showcasing everyone’s favourite X-Men member in all his bladed glory.

2K Games and Firaxis have shared more than 6 minutes of footage in their latest Marvel character deep dive, following on from Doctor Strange.

It should come as no surprise just how confrontational Logan is when in battle, slipping into berserker mode as he slices from one enemy to the next. The video also reveals that Wolverine will gain his trademark healing factor ability if players successfully build a bond with him, allowing the X-Man to rapidly revive when fallen.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is the latest game from XCOM developer, Firaxis, and there’s definitely some shared DNA here. This isn’t an action title like Marvel Ultimate Alliance or a multiplayer RPG like Marvel’s Avengers – instead you’ll engage in turn-based tactics, playing cards from customisable decks that represent each hero’s powers.

In the latest Wolverine gameplay footage we get to see just one of the many Marvel icons you can recruit to your elite superhero squad. Here’s a full list of Midnight Suns characters (so far):

  • Blade
  • Captain America
  • Captain Marvel
  • Doctor Strange
  • Ghost Rider
  • Iron Man
  • Magik
  • Nico Minoru
  • Scarlet Witch
  • Spider-Man
  • Wolverine

Originally, the game was due to launch on PC and consoles in October 2022. However, 2K Games has announced that it has been delayed though hasn’t provided a firm release date, stating early 2023. Those playing on PS4 and Xbox One will be saddened to hear that a last-gen version of Midnight Suns will be arriving even later.

Even further down the line, we have an upcoming game that will star Logan as its lead character. Marvel’s Wolverine is being developed by Insomniac Games exclusively for PlayStation. We don’t have a launch date for that either, though it’s likely a long way off – here are some recent story and gameplay predictions.
