Fans of horror games and unsettlingly squishy things will be delighted to hear that Scorn will now be releasing on 14th October, the release date having been brought forward by one week. Scorn is coming to PC and Xbox Series X|S, and will be day one on Xbox Game Pass.
Previously set for 21st October, Ebb Software and Kepler Interactive have chosen to brought the release date forward in a way that is sure to unnerve gamers who are more accustomed to video games being delayed. Scorn even perpetuated this trend by being delayed several times through its development. Truly, they seem to be masters of this whole existential horror.
Scorn captured the imaginations of many gamers thanks to its blend of biological and mechanical alien environments, tapping into the ever-popular wells of H.R. Giger’s twisted imagery for a core source of inspiration. The game will see you wake in this isolated and strange world, having to explore a labyrinth, learn the rules and overcome grotesque puzzles on the path to understanding your place within it.
We got the opportunity to go hands on with Scorn earlier this month. Steve wrote in our Scorn preview:
“Scorn is not going to be for everyone. The phallic and labial designs, combined with the glistening ooze that covers everything, not to mention the endless pulsing and throbbing, are almost guaranteed to make you feel uncomfortable. The fact that you operate the techo-organic machinery by fully inserting your fingers or hands into openings that are frankly obscene may well be too much for many. I am fascinated to see how the game will be received through its inclusion in Game Pass, where it will have the chance to repel and gross out curious players who might not go out and buy it. Either way, I am itching to get my hands on the full game, squishy and oozing as it may be.”
