It’s now been confirmed that Elle Fanning will feature in Hideo Kojima’s next game, as a cryptic Tweet from Tokyo Game Show has been revealed to be of the actor.
Kojima was teasing his fans with a darkened image of a woman’s head overlaid with the phrase “Who am I?”. This wasn’t particularly cryptic as internet denizens were pretty darned quick to compare images of Fanning with the silhouette.
This speculation has now been confirmed as a QR code on display at PAX Australia was discovered and posted to Twitter, leading to the Kojima Production website and revealing Fanning’s visage.
Kojima himself has now stepped things up and moved on to the next stage of his cryptic shenanigans.

We can generally figure out what he’s getting at here, thanks to the clues in the Tweet. Each line coming with a video game event, an interrogative word, and then a person.
- TGS→”WHO”→ ELLE
- PAX→”WHERE”→???
- ???→”???”→???
It’s already speculated that the second actor is Margaret Qualley, who previously featured in Death Stranding. As for the final line, it’s probably The Game Awards in December, given Kojima’s tight connection with Keighley, and then either “WHAT” or “WHEN”, maybe “HOW”, and a final actor.
There’s been plenty of rumours swirling around Kojima’s next game lately, and it seems that Kojima Productions are working on a pair of projects. One is an Xbox exclusive using the Cloud, and this could be a horror game is called Overdose starring Margaret Qualley. Alternatively, it could be another Death Stranding game, given a Tweet by a Kojima Productions Producer having both #DeathStranding and #WhereAmI for hashtags. Not only that, but back in May this year, Death Stranding star Norman Reedus revealed that work on Death Stranding 2 had started.
