Mario Party 1 & 2 come to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack in November

Mario Party & Mario Party 2 are coming to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack library on 2nd November, Nintendo has announced, in a nice double addition to the subscription service.

These two N64 classics kicked off a long-running party game franchise. Each entry sees Mario and chums head into a bizarre digital board game, rolling dice and competing to collect coins and stars on the board, while also taking part in a menagerie of mini-games. While originally a pure local multiplayer delight, the games will have online multiplayer support through Switch Online.

Some of the boards found in these games were recently revived for Mario Party Superstars, which we reviewed, saying:

“After a decade of games that sought to reinvent and renew the series, Mario Party Superstars rewinds time for a reminder of what made Mario Party popular in the first place. Five gorgeously recreated boards, 100 cherry-picked minigames, and countless opportunities to plan and scheme your way to victory… so long as the dice roll in your favour.”

Of course, I’m sure plenty of people will enjoy hopping back into the original games and getting to play all the old boards and minigames.

Nintendo has been adding one N64 game to the library each month since Expansion Pack launched, and previously confirmed the remaining games for 2022 and those coming in 2023. The one exception to this was that GoldenEye 007 will be coming to the subscription at some point, with no indication of release. With no more 2022 games left on the list, that suggests that GoldenEye 007 will be the December game, doesn’t it?
