Return to Monkey Island will be dropping onto PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S next week on 8th November, it’s been announced by Devolver Digital & Terrible Toybox. The game will also be in Xbox Game Pass on day one!
Having originally released for Nintendo Switch and PC in September, the game is now hopping across to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S around two months later.
Return to Monkey Island is a grand return to the legendary point & click adventure by Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman, two of the three minds behind the original game. This adventure slots into the series’ overarching narrative right where this pair left off, effectively ignoring all of the events and (most of) the new characters that came after they moved on from LucasArts.
With a distinctive new art style, it’s a game that straddles the divide between the new and old, leaning into the nostalgia, but featuring some more modern gameplay.
If you’re a point & click fan, then it’s practically essential to play. In our Return to Monkey Island review, Nic said, “With all the wit and charm that you would expect from Gilbert and Grossman’s writing, Return to Monkey Island is a decades-long reverie made reality and absolutely essential for fans of the series.”
