IGI: Origins latest trailer teases the game’s world

IGI Origins has a new teaser courtesy of developer AntiMatter Games, with this one showing elements of the game world. The footage shown is pre-alpha gameplay so you will notice some framerate drops. The gameplay shows different times of the day and night cycle, areas from docks to a burning woodland, and plenty of combat. There are different guns used from pistols to machine guns and a sniper rifle.

AntiMatter Games also released a short statement thanking people for their support. In it the development team said, “From everyone at AntiMatter Games, we would like to express our gratitude at the huge and positive response to our first gameplay reveal. It’s been incredible and humbling to read your reactions to our work so far and we are immensely thankful for your support. As the year draws to a close, we wanted to share with you some more glimpses of the world of I.G.I. we are creating and give you a taster… of what is to come. “

IGI: Origins was first announced back in 2019 with an expected release window of 2021, however that did not happen. The game itself is a prequel to the 2000 game Project I.G.I which was developed by Innerloop Studios and published by Eidos Montreal. The story outline for IGI: Origins says, “You are Michael King, codenamed Regent, an ex-SAS soldier, recruited by MI6 for covert, global missions to target an enemy with a world war in their sights. Armed with a sophisticated arsenal to divert, outsmart or wipe-out your adversaries, decide your approach; ghost-like espionage or heavy firefights. Twisted actions raise questions over the true enemy and harden your resolve against a shifting, hostile world.”

IGI: Origins is currently listed for a PC release via Steam, but no release date has yet been set for the game.
