The DioField Chronicle update 1.20 adds very hard difficulty

The FioField Chronicle Header

The DioField Chronicle has been updated to version 1.20 today, with this update bringing a few new additions to the experience. One of those key additions is the introduction of a Very Hard game difficulty for those who fancy a tougher challenge. Alongside that is a new story scenario that centres on one of the Blue Fox Mercenaries leaders, Waltaquin Redditch. For those who have already played through the game, the events of this scenario will be in the same period of Chapter 4 of the story.

As part of the new story scenario a new weapon type has also been added, and that is the Magic Tome. This will allow new spells to be used in the game such as summoning skeletal knights and dragons in to battle. For those who are ready to take on New Game+ there is a new Extra Mode that will also make enemies tougher in the run.

The DioField Chronicle update 1.20 patch notes

  • Additional new story content starring Waltaquin Redditch – Follow the events from Waltaquin joining the Blue Fox up to Chapter 5 and see the story unfolding from her perspective.
  • New gameplay mechanics, maps, missions and boss – Featuring new events that present Waltaquin’s thoughts and deliberations as options for the player. Explore new maps, take on new missions and fight the fearsome new boss “Behemoth”.
  • New equipment and skills – The new “Magic Tome” equipment type and the “Necrotiem” skill that can be used with it open up new tactical possibilities, not seen in the original game.
  • New difficulty level and play mode unlocked after completing the game – This update introduces the new “Very Hard” difficulty level that offers players an even more satisfying challenge, as well as an extra mode where the difficulty level is pitched at players who have completed the main story.
  • Adjustments to game balance in certain areas.

In our The DioField Chronicle review, Miguel wrote, “The DioField Chronicle delivers a unique real-time spin on the usual tactics RPG experience, but it’s marred by a boring story, unlikable characters, and inconsistent presentation. While the one saving grace is the addictive and always rewarding combat, missions fail to deliver the evolution or variety that some might expect. Overall, it’s an interesting game, but not an altogether great one.”
