Battlefield 1943, Bad Company 1 & 2 are being delisted, servers shut down

EA has announced that four of its big legacy titles will be delisted from digital stores from the end of April. Battlefield 1943, Battlefield Bad Company, Battlefield Bad Company 2 are all going to be removed from April 28th, 2022. Then on December 8th the online features for all of these games will be turned off.

Update: While originally included in the announcement, EA has now removed mention of Mirror’s Edge, which seems like it will remain online.

In a statement EA wrote, “For Bad Company 1 & 2, you can still continue playing them and use their respective offline features, such as the single player campaign. You can also read our FAQ and Service Updates for further information on the retirement of online services. While these titles hold a special place in our heart, we’re now looking forward to creating new memories alongside you as we shift our focus towards our current and future Battlefield experiences.”

Battlefield Portal has kept the classic Battlefield games alive in some form, with content from the likes of Bad Company 2 being remastered to create custom game modes. While the removal of the Bad Company games is a big move, it does not necessarily mean that we will not see Bad Company 3 somewhere down the line. Bad Company 2’s multiplayer is considered one of the best in the series by many, and certainly has one of the best campaigns found in the Battlefield series.
