Tony Todd, the very first Candyman and also the voice of Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games has made a faux pas on social media and told everyone when the game is coming out. According to Todd, the Spider-Man 2 release date will be in September this year and it will be preceded by a massive advertising campaign.

Since his Tweet, which he has not deleted, Todd has tried to back track on his comments and suggested it all a ‘fever dream’ brought on by ‘jet lag’.

The Spider-Man 2 release date leak does line up with an announcement from Creative Director Bryan Intihar on the PS Blog last December:

“What a year it’s been for PlayStation Studios; here at Insomniac Games we’ve been in absolute awe of the work of our peers. Congrats to everyone on a successful 2022… and here’s to next year being just as exciting as we continue to get Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ready for release next fall.”

The 2023 launch year has been set since Spider-Man 2 was announced during a State of Play stream in September 2021.

“We’d put good money on Spider-Man 2 offering both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as playable characters, each coming with a distinct set of spider-themed abilities as we saw through the first two games,” wrote Stefan. “However, it’s very, very, very, very, very likely that one or both of them will be joined to the Venom symbiote at one point or another, offering wholly different sinewy alien gloop abilities.”

Spider-Man 2 came in at number 2 in our Most Wanted Games of 2023.

Spider-Man was a great game on PS4 and has been remastered for PS5 alongside the release of Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

We gave Spider-Man: Miles Morales a great 8/10 in our review. “Spider-Man: Miles Morales feels like more of a sequel than it is a stopgap, entangling players within its web of cleverly refined mechanics while delivering some familiar web-slinging thrills,” said Jim. “A heroic technical showcase for PS5 owners picking up their consoles on day one, this meaty side story in the Spider-Man saga has us even more excited than before to see what Insomniac Games have planned next.”
