Mimimi Games has released a new trailer for Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, introducing us to the supernatural pirate characters of the studios successor to their Shadow Tactics series.
Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2023, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew is Mimimi’s first self-published game and an original IP.
You’ll play as a cursed crew of pirates, each with magical skills, and have free character selection to take your own approach to missions. There’s a living ghost ship as your hub, which is kind of cool too.
With the Inquisition increasing security on the mission in the trailer, the crew leans on the abilities of a few key characters. Afia leads the crew with Sumedi the ship doctor able to create bushes with a thrown object, and send guards off with distracting darts. Shipwright Mr. Mercury can leap through the aether to get past any wall, while Theresa the sharpshooter whose name I didn’t catch can provide covering fire. Gael has a back-mounted cannon to fire allies wherever they need to go, and Toya the cook can throw magical and deadly charms, while Pinkers can possess enemies. The treasure hunter Quentin doesn’t have a head but runs around with a large chest on his back.
It all looks rather intriguing, putting a rather different spin on what Mimimi made with Shadow Tactics. Then again, they did dabble in the supernatural with Desperados 3.
