Marvel Snap Rise of the Phoenix season detailed in new dev diary

marvel snap global release date

Marvel Snap’s next season is going to be Rise of the Phoenix, which is based on the Phoenix Force from X-Men. One of the key cards that will be available in the Rise of the Phoenix season is the Phoenix Force card, which has an on reveal ability to revive a destroyed card and merge with it. That card can then be moved anywhere each turn. This Phoenix Force card will have a 5 energy cost and 6 power.

With a new season comes new card variants too. As the Phoenix Force has merged with quite a few characters over the years, the developers have a good selection of characters to make variants for. In the dev diary, there is confirmation there will be a Colossus Phoenix Force variant, a Magik Phoenix Force variant, as well as the Phoenix Force card getting its own variant.

Rise of the Phoenix will also see the addition of new cards, and the first of those is Jean Grey. Jean Grey is the character most associated with the Phoenix Force, and she has an ongoing ability where players must play their first cards at the location where Jean Grey is each turn, if that is possible. Jean Grey has an energy cost of three, with her power also being three. Another card is Legion and Legion is an on reveal card. The Legion ability replaces every location with the location it is played at. Legion has an energy cost of five and a power level of eight. Echo is the next card and has an ability too. Echo’s ability is to remove the ongoing abilities of opponent’s cards that are placed at the same location. Echo has a cost of one and a power of two. The final card reveal is Mirage and Mirage has an on reveal ability too. The on reveal ability is to copy the lowest cost card in your opponent’s hand into your hand, and give it +2 power. Mirage has a cost of two energy and two power.

There will be two locations introduced in Rise of the Phoenix too. The first location is the White Hot Room. At this location, the fist person to fill it will get +3 max energy. The second location is Lake Helis where one cost cards get +2 power. Later on this month, Spotlight caches will be introduced allowing players more chances to get series 4 and 5 cards through the collection road. More variants are also coming for Mystique, America Chavez, Wong, Echo, Adam Warlock, and Deadpool.
