Trombone Champ will glissando its way onto VR later this year

2022’s bizarre indie hit Trombone Champ is being all its slidey trombone shenanigans to VR later this year, with Trombone Champ: Unflattened set to launch across Meta Quest, PlayStation VR 2 and Steam VR this autumn.

Trombone Champ: Unflattened comes from Flat2VR Studios, a studio that is all about translating flat screen games into virtual reality.

In this case it’s a pretty big reimagining that, instead of having your toot happy Mii-alike character on screen and notes moving from right to left, you will pick up a virtual trombone and actually move the slide around yourself. It is… well, it’s an awful lot closer to playing an actual trombone than you might expect.

The game will feature a playful narrative involving baboons and absurd, laugh-out-loud moments”, while also featuring a slew of weird trombones (including one with a fish replacing the bell), and customisation options to recolour your instrument.
