With the full game’s launch a little over a month away, Square Enix has released a free demo for Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, a full 3D remake of the early 90s fan favourite. The demo is available now across PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch and Steam.

The Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven demo will be a great opportunity to preview the work done to revive this game for modern audiences, giving players access to the beginning of the game. You’ll step into the shows of Emperor Leon as he and his second son, Prince Gerard, embark on the multi-generational story that runs through the game. The demo will build up to and conclude with the battle against Kzinssie, one of the Seven Heroes.

In a touch that’s always nice to see, you’ll be able to transfer any demo progress across to the full game.

The new trailer for Tokyo Game Show, meanwhile, showcases the fallen Seven Heroes and gives hints of their past. It also shows off two new classes, the Imperial Blacksmith and Dancer.

Romancing SaGa 2, the fifth game in the SaGa series when including the Final Fantasy Legend trilogy, originally launched in 1993 for the Super Famicom, building on the nonlinear narrative structure of the previous game. The game was previously remastered in its original form back in 2016, but this remake – coming from the team behind the 2020 Trials of Mana remake – will bring a lot of more modern flourishes to the classic adventure.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven launch is set for 24th October 2024.
