THQ Nordic has revealed that players will be able to get their hands on the Gothic 1 Remake this summer, with the publisher announcing that the game will be available on June 5th. A new trailer for the announcement has been released, giving another look at the world of Gothic, with the Valley of Mines getting the spruce up along with the characters.
In the announcement post, THQ Nordic wrote, “The Gothic 1 Remake’s primary objective has always been to recreate that raw, unforgettable magic of the original – the gritty camp vibes, the living open-world, the rough language, the unforgiving wilderness, and that nameless, no-hero outsider feel that made Gothic a cult legend 25 years ago. The developers at Alkimia Interactive poured endless hours into tweaking every detail to bring back the original atmosphere of the Valley of Mines—the meatbug ragout à la Snaf, the piercing battle cry of a scavenger, annoying Mud—everything is in its place.
Is the Gothic 1 Remake a Gothic Revival or a Gothic Ruin?
Last year, Steve spent some time with the demo of Gothic 1 Remake, and said, “All in all, the Gothic 1 Remake holds a lot of promise, looking set to retain the feel and challenge of the original whilst updating the interface and graphics to appeal to modern gamers. It remains a crying shame that Piranha Bytes are no more, but Alkimia seem to be honouring their legacy in all the right ways.”
Gothic 1 Remake will be released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series XS, with pre-order details to be revealed soon.
