Polyphony Digital has released a teaser trailer for the next Gran Turismo 7 update during the Gran Turismo World Series 2026 Rd.1 – Milan, promising that four modern Le Mans and World Endurance Championship cars (and the safety car) will be added on 11th June.

All I can say is… finally! With the 24 Hours of Le Mans taking place on 13th-14th June, this is perfectly timed to get some laps around Circuit de la Sarthe in.

The four prototypes are:

  • BMW M Hybrid V8
  • Ferrari 499P
  • Peugeot 9X8
  • Porsche 963

And you also have the Porsche 911 Turbo S safety car.

This is the first time that Gran Turismo has had a wide set of contemporary cars from the top of the World Endurance Championship in a long, long time, and this foursome joins the Toyota GR010 Hybrid from 2021, an evolution of which is still being used in the WEC. But therein lies part of the “problem”. This is far from the full line up of prototype cars that currently compete in WEC – we’re missing cars from Aston Martin, Alpine, Cadillac, and Genesis – and while it’s a crying shame that Porsche has pulled out from the competition at the end of last year, it does mean that the Porsche 963 is not current.

But as a free update to the game, it’s a bit cheeky to be complaining. We do now live in a time where there is an official licensed game for WEC, Le Mans Ultimate, and it’s a pretty popular one amongst sim and enthusiast racers on PC. GT7 is a much broader game, and it’s honestly impressive that Polyphony is still releasing significant car lineups in free updates. It does also have a great array of classic Le Mans competitors and winners, which other games can only dream of.
