Hey, remember Spellcaster Chronicles? The game Quantic Dream was working on while their Star Wars game languished? The free-to-play, team-based, 3rd-person action-strategy game? We covered it when the game when it was announced ?
I am guessing you probably do not. It launched in Early Access in February with a peak player count on Steam of 888 players, which it has never bettered.
The game is following the pattern of so many recent free-to-play PvP games in that it is shutting down just months after launch, and this Friday 19th June the servers will be offline for good.
“With this project, our teams set out to explore new creative territories and create a bold, original multiplayer experience. Spellcasters Chronicles allowed us to experiment with new concepts and bring to life an ambitious game shaped by the talent, creativity, and dedication of everyone involved,” Quantic Dream posted on Steam.
“
By now the industry should have learned that trying to make the next Fortnite is not going to work because there is Fortnite, and people playing Fortnite are very happy playing Fortnite and don’t want your new game.
With that in mind, let’s just pretend Horizon Hunters Gathering doesn’t exist, shall we? It did not get featured in the recent State of Play, so that’s what Sony is doing.
